When an emergency occurs, WestView Health Centre responds.

Each year, WestView Health Centre serves over 49,000 people, with 55% of patients arriving through the Emergency Department.

In 2024-25, WestView Health Centre responded to 27,034 emergencies.  All without a CT scanner.  Many with complex care requirements.  All in a space that is operating beyond capacity.

Knowing that demand for emergency services is only increasing, WestView Health Centre’s CT project planning includes expansion of the emergency response area to accommodate enhanced Diagnostic Imaging, relocation of pharmaceutical services and improved patient flow.

Waiting for a CT Scan

More than 200 patients a month are sent to a different facility, in a different town or city, because WestView Health Centre does not have a CT scanner.

  • Some can’t make the long trip1

  • Some go undiagnosed

  • Some suffer delays in treatment when minutes matter most.

In addition, more than 30,000 residents2 in the region are waiting for a CT scan.  That’s not just a number – it’s families, seniors, children, and neighbours.

“Reliance on off-site CT is delaying care, compromising patient outcomes, and adding to the systemic strain on healthcare resources across the zone”3.

A CT scanner at WestView will change this story – offering faster, local access to life-saving imaging.
